Ark Federation Governance

The Department for Education published five pillars of quality for multi-academy trusts.

The five pillars are:

  1. High-Quality and Inclusive Education
  2. School Improvement
  3. Workforce
  4. Finance and Operations
  5. Governance and Leadership

Primary responsibility for these functions is held by the Trust Board of Trustees, but it delegates responsibilities to the committees of the Trust Board, including the Local Governing Committees (LGC) of each academy, and roles within the Trust Central Team via the Scheme of Delegation (see below).

Could you be a Local Governor?

We are always looking to add Governors to our Local Governance Committee.

It’s a rewarding role that will give you an insight into the work of Moorlands and Peterhouse Primary Academies and is a great chance to make a difference for the children.

As governors, it is important to have a range of views around the table. The most important part is having the enthusiasm to help get the best outcomes for the school, the children, and the wider community.

If you think you might be interested, then please either contact the school office (office@moorlands.dneat.org.uk or office@peterhouse.dneat.org.uk ) and one of the current team will get in touch for a chat – with no obligation

Application Form – if you’re interested in becoming a school governor, here is a link to the Governor Application Form (see below) – for parent governors there is a different form which is available from the school office when there is a vacancy.

How can you contact the governing body?

The governors welcome suggestions, feedback and ideas from parents. The Chair of Governors can be contacted via the school offices, and will endeavour to respond within 5 school days.

As is the case in many schools across the country, the Diocese of Norwich’s Academy Trusts (DNEAT and St Benet’s MAT) have exciting volunteer opportunities for new governors from the local community.

Being a local governor for an academy in our Multi-Academy Trusts is a valuable and fulfilling role.

As a governor, you will be able to:

  • use your own experience of education and life beyond school to inform conversations and hold school leader’s to account,
  • develop and utilise your skills in a board-level environment
  • make a valuable contribution to education and your community
  • support and challenge the school so that it improves for pupils and staff
  • bring your unique experiences, perspectives and insights to decision-making in the interests of the school community

We welcome applications from individuals of all faiths and none, of all ages and levels of experience and from all backgrounds. Knowledge of education and the education system or board experience are not necessary – your skills, attitude and commitment are more valuable. Our Governors are asked to agree to uphold the Christian ethos of the Multi-Academy Trust.

More details can be found online here Volunteer Governor Opportunities – The Diocese of Norwich Multi Academy Trusts – DNEAT
